Jan Portheijne

Co-Founder & CEO Kartent.com

“From brilliant idea to worldwide entrepreneur in 2 years”

Jan (24, Delft MS in Architecture, Urbanism and Building Sciences, BSc Architecture) is Co-founder and CEO of KarTent, the Delft start-up which introduced the cool, cheap and easily recyclable cardboard festival tent, rewarded with a Red Dot Design Award in 2017. KarTent has the sustainable and environmentally-friendly solution for the enormous waste of “left-behind-tents-at-festivals”(1 in every 4, and in the Netherlands only about 25.000 tents a year). Its first product launch was 2015, and this year approximately 50.000 tents will be sold in 15 countries.  Further extension of its business is foreseen in South Africa, New Zealand and Australia.

Jan will tell you about the history and great plans of KarTent.  From being a Delft student having a brilliant and simple idea, to creating a concrete product, and launching it worldwide only two years later.

If you consider to start a business of your own, you really should join this inspiring workshop!
